What Methods Can Be Used For Antibacterial Fiber Post-treatment ?

Post-treatment processing method is a method which bring the antibacterial agent by processes as dipping, padding,coating or spaying etc., so that make the agent fix on the fabric for antibacterial property. There are 3 mechanism finishing method of antibacterial performance:

1. Fix antibacterial agent on the fiber surface by using reactive resin; 
2. Make antibacterial agent adsorb on fiber surface;
3. Make functional group and antibacterial agent reacting then graft fixing, including agent crosslinking by glyoxal etc.

From the aspect of operation, antibacterial can combine with dyestuff or add to dyeing process; it can also be added to softening agent & finishing agent, for example mixing metal and its compound fine powder with softening agent that got film forming characteristic & adhesiveness. 

The fact of these methods is a kind of finishing technology. The advantage of this technology is easy processing and multiple agent choice according to customer’s requirement, it also allowed fix the bacterial agent to fiber, yarn, fabric, garment or other textile products. Its disadvantage is this antibacterial agent only coating on the surface level of fiber, once lost there  will be no replenish, thus this tech cannot got laundry-proof property, and the durability of anti-bacterial property is not good. It also bring the safety problem for big dissolving-out amount in the initial period.

Coat forming method may build a metal ion exit tunnel from fiber, then there will be a sustained release system, when antibacterial agent on flame retardant fabric surface is reducing, the antibacterial agent in fiber will release slowly for supply the surface, thus improving the durability and safety.
