How to achieve the fabric functionality?

Functional fabric often leads to unconventional fabrics which have function more than warmth, cover and beauty, such as anti-static, wash & wear (non-ironing), shrink-proof, moth-proof, water-proof, dirt-proof, anti-wrinkle, anti-pilling etc.. And fire-retardant, UV, far infrared reflection, electromagnetic shielding, anti-microbico and deodorization, anti-radiation, high hygroscopic etc., some of these special fabric only have single function, some got different functions superimposed, then make these fabric become multi-functional or compound functional.
Generally there are two ways to achieve these functionality at present.
First, it can be realized by using special fiber or functional fiber, for developing fabrics that have corresponding function. For example, it is a good way for developing a new type multi-fuction fabric by using antibiosis fiber and fire-retardant fiber.
Recently, the main fiber which developed in China are: fire-retardant fiber, conductive and anti-static fiber, anti-radiation, far infrared reflection fiber, UV fiber, anion fiber, anti-microbico fiber, light catalytic fiber, perfumed fiber, chameleon fiber, magnetic fibre etc., these functional fibers are supporting the development of functional fabric. These production which meet market requirement by using these functional fibers, will be a great idea of new product development.
Second way is functional finishing, means taking after-treatment to yarn or fiber, such as functional processing, coating or modifying by using finishing agent, then give the product special function. For example, durable water/oil-proof fabric by using organic fluorine, water/wind proof breathable fabric by using PTFE coatings, antibacterial fabric finished by using antibacterial agent.
