What are The Requirements for Arc Proof Clothing in NFPA70E?

The the latest version of the NFPA70E standard released by the American National Fire Protection Association in 2004 including all aspects of using electricity safely in industry work environment. NFPA70E recommends that, in the presence of an arc, the arc protection, flame retardant personal equipment when used must meet the performance standards of ASTMF1506, ASTMF1891 and ASTMF2178, and the revised version requires planing analyze the arc risk to decide the arc safety margin.
The standard is designed to protect employees in the arc safety limit, and protect employees by using protective clothing of the corresponding risk classification of ATPV values. The unit of ATPV value is cal / cm2, on behalf of the arc thermal protection value, used to reflect the arc protection materials, especially the maximum protective performance of arc proof clothing
NFPA70E standard is a safety electricity standard for workers who work in the vicinity of live equipment, standardizes and devises the necessary steps to prevent serious injury from arc accidents. According to NFPA70E, each person working in the arc safety limits( the released energy is greater than1.2cal/cm2 in this range) must wear appropriate fire retardant arc proof clothing
. NFPA divides the hazard risk classification into 0-4 grades to represent different hazard levels. The minimum risk level is the arc explosion caused by 4 cal / cm2 of energy-induced burns, that is, NFPA70E.
In order to get the fully protection during the arc explosion, the staff must wear NFPA certified thermal protection suits with not less than 4cal/cm2 ATPV rate.
